Profile
Wandercraft is a French deep-tech company founded in 2012 that specializes in the development of advanced exoskeleton technology. The company designs and manufactures self-balancing, powered exoskeletons that enable people with mobility impairments—particularly those with spinal cord injuries—to walk again in a natural, hands-free manner. Unlike many competing exoskeletons that rely on crutches or walkers for balance, Wandercraft’s proprietary “WalkON” technology uses sophisticated algorithms, real-time balance control, and multiple actuators to mimic natural human gait and provide autonomous stability.
Their flagship medical product is the Atalante exoskeleton (now in its X version). Atalante X is a CE-marked Class IIb medical device used in rehabilitation centers across Europe. It is the first and only self-stabilizing exoskeleton approved for use without crutches, allowing patients with paraplegia or other lower-limb disabilities to stand up, walk, turn, and sit down independently. The device is primarily used for intensive gait rehabilitation, helping patients improve cardiovascular health, muscle tone, bone density, and psychological well-being. It features a user-friendly interface, quick fitting system, and is suitable for patients from approximately 1.55 m to 1.90 m tall and weighing up to 100 kg.
In addition to its medical line, Wandercraft is actively developing personal and outdoor-use exoskeletons. Their long-term vision is to create lightweight, versatile exoskeletons that people can wear daily to move freely outside clinical environments. The company invests heavily in R&D, combining robotics, AI, biomechanics, and human movement science.
Headquartered in Paris, Wandercraft has grown into one of Europe’s leading exoskeleton companies. It has raised significant venture capital and collaborates with major hospitals and research institutions. The company emphasizes restoring dignity, independence, and quality of life for people living with mobility impairments through cutting-edge robotic innovation.
