Profile
Vention is a Montreal-based industrial automation company founded in 2016 that has rapidly become a leader in simplifying factory-floor robotics and automation. By creating a fully integrated, cloud-native platform that unifies modular hardware, intuitive software, and emerging Physical AI capabilities, Vention enables manufacturers of all sizes—from SMEs to 90% of the Fortune 500—to design, program, deploy, and operate automated systems in days rather than months. The company’s philosophy centers on making automation accessible, scalable, and software-like in speed while dramatically reducing total cost of ownership and non-recurring engineering expenses. With more than 28,000 machines running globally across 4,000+ factories and 25+ industries, Vention has established itself as a disruptive force in a traditionally slow-moving sector.
At the heart of Vention’s robot-based products is its comprehensive ecosystem built around plug-and-play modularity and digital-twin accuracy. The flagship hardware component is MachineMotion AI™, an advanced automation controller that powers robots, motors, sensors, and AI-driven applications. It features built-in NVIDIA Jetson GPU support for edge AI, daisy-chained EtherCAT connectivity for up to 20 motors, and multiple networking options including Wi-Fi, LAN, and LTE. This controller serves as the computational brain for everything from simple conveyors to complex robotic cells. Complementing it is Vention’s patented T-slot aluminum extrusion system, which delivers superior rigidity, vibration resistance, and payload capacity for building robot frames, workstations, and safety enclosures.
Vention offers a wide library of robot-centric components including linear and rotary actuators, seven types of modular conveyors, tool changers, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and safety systems. The platform is robot-agnostic, officially certified for major brands such as Universal Robots and FANUC, and includes an extensive marketplace with over 3,000 compatible parts. Customers can integrate collaborative robots (cobots) or industrial arms seamlessly within a single cloud environment.
The software side is equally powerful. MachineBuilder™ is a cloud-native CAD tool purpose-built for factory equipment, featuring AI-assisted design, auto-generated bills of materials, and instant online ordering with next-day shipping options. MachineLogic™ provides an intuitive programming environment supporting no-code interfaces, an AI Copilot, Python scripting, and accurate physics-based simulation with a full digital twin. Programs can be deployed with one click from the cloud directly to the physical machine, complete with over-the-air updates. MachineAnalytics™ adds remote monitoring, live camera feeds (with seven-day replay), performance dashboards, health metrics, and configurable alerts. A dedicated remote-support feature allows Vention experts to connect instantly to any machine for troubleshooting via dual-camera views and screen sharing.
Vention’s robot-based product lineup includes several turnkey, pre-engineered applications that accelerate adoption. The Rapid Series Cobot Palletizer offers up to 30 kg payload and 13 picks per minute with an intuitive touchscreen interface, live video streaming, analytics, and on-demand remote support. The Industrial Palletizer handles heavier loads up to 136 kg and supports multi-item picking for higher throughput. Robotic Sanding solutions, developed in partnership with 3M, provide consistent finishes for wood and cabinet applications with autonomous panel detection. CNC Machine Tending systems deliver hours of unmanned operation through configurable trays, drawers, and custom EOAT. Robotic Welding cells support floor-mounted, overhead, or range-extender configurations for high-mix production. Most recently, Rapid Operator AI (launched in 2026 and powered by NVIDIA technology) brings Physical AI to unstructured, repetitive tasks with pre-trained models that go from CAD model to pick-and-place in minutes, even in varying lighting conditions. Additional offerings include pick-and-place gantries, path-following systems, and custom robot cells for research labs and advanced manufacturing.
Vention emphasizes a hybrid approach that empowers in-house teams rather than replacing them. Customers can choose self-serve design and deployment, assisted services, or fully managed turnkey solutions. This flexibility has resulted in an average project payback period of just 1.3 years, 4.7× ROI, and deployment speeds 3–8× faster than traditional integrators. Notable customer successes include Rev-A-Shelf’s multi-palletizer installation that reallocated eight operators and saved $150,000 annually, McAlpine & Co.’s fully automated case-packing line running 24/5, and Solestial’s precision solar wafer handling gantry that increased throughput by 50%.
With headquarters in Montreal and a European office in Berlin, Vention continues to invest heavily in Physical AI, cloud connectivity partnerships (including Bell for global LTE), and an open developer toolkit. Its strong corporate culture has earned repeated “Best Workplace in Manufacturing” recognition. By treating automation as a software-like experience built on reusable modular robotics hardware, Vention is helping manufacturers rapidly increase robot density, improve resilience, and compete in a labor-constrained global market.
