Profile
Trew Automation is a leading U.S.-based manufacturer and integrator of automated material handling systems and the software that powers them. Operating primarily under the TREW brand, Trew Automation delivers comprehensive solutions for retail, e-commerce, warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, and parcel operations. The company designs, builds, installs, and supports end-to-end automation that enables clients to run smarter, adapt faster, and achieve higher lifetime value from their facilities. With thousands of installations worldwide and a vertically integrated team of industry veterans combined with emerging talent, Trew Automation emphasizes collaboration, innovation through partnership, and a “do what is right and TREW” philosophy focused on delivering uncommonly smart outcomes.
Headquartered in the greater Cincinnati, Ohio area, Trew Automation maintains a strong North American footprint that includes Canadian operations. The company manufactures its own hardware, integrates third-party technologies, and provides full lifecycle services including engineering, project management, installation, technical support, parts, field service, and training. Trew Automation works directly with end users as well as through a broad network of system integrators, allowing flexible deployment models that scale from targeted upgrades to full greenfield warehouses.
Trew Automation’s robot-based products center on flexible, scalable warehouse robotics that complement or replace more rigid traditional automation. These solutions focus on tasks such as picking, sorting, transport, and pallet handling while working alongside human operators. Core offerings include the Core™ Robotic Picking System, which converts traditional goods-to-person stations into goods-to-robot stations. This system uses intelligent vision and adaptive gripping to handle a wide variety of items without requiring pre-programmed SKU data, enabling accurate tote-to-tote, tote-to-bag, and similar transfers at high speed.
Additional robot technologies feature autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for mobile robotic goods-to-operator systems. These AMRs form modular storage and retrieval subsystems that support put-away, replenishment, and order picking, offering excellent flexibility for changing inventory profiles and seasonal demand swings. Operators can scale storage or throughput independently by adding racks or robots as needed.
Trew Automation also integrates compact robotic put-wall and sortation systems. The Sure Sort robotic put wall from partner OPEX provides a scalable alternative for small-item order consolidation, retail replenishment, inbound processing, kiting, returns, and parcel work. Similarly, the Stride™ Shuttle Sorter serves as a high-performance automated store replenishment and fulfillment sorter capable of increasing throughput significantly while minimizing footprint and improving cube utilization.
Articulated arm robotics round out the portfolio for heavier lifting and repetitive tasks. These arms handle palletizing, depalletizing, and decasing of cases, totes, and pallets, reducing injury risk and fatigue in high-volume operations. All robotic solutions are tightly integrated with Trew Automation’s proprietary software, including the SmartMoves WX Warehouse Execution System (WES). This intelligent platform orchestrates people, processes, and automation in real time, supporting batch or waveless strategies, dynamic task allocation, and data-driven analytics.
By combining in-house hardware, advanced software, and partner robotic technologies, Trew Automation delivers adaptable, high-ROI automation that performs in mixed environments. The systems help companies reduce labor dependency, improve accuracy and speed, and respond quickly to evolving fulfillment demands without overhauling entire facilities.
