Profile
Shark Robotics is a French deep-tech company founded in 2016 and headquartered in La Rochelle, France. It specializes in designing and manufacturing rugged, mission-ready ground robots for firefighting, civil security, defense, demining, and hazardous industrial operations. The company’s core mission is to protect human lives by deploying robots into extreme and dangerous environments where human intervention is too risky or impossible. Shark Robotics has gained international recognition for its battle-proven platforms, with robots deployed in over 25 countries and hundreds of units in active service.
The company focuses on building highly modular, durable, and remotely operated robots that integrate advanced mobility, payload versatility, and real-time operator control. Its systems emphasize low maintenance, rapid deployment, and proven performance in real emergency and combat scenarios.
Key Robot-Based Products:
- Colossus: The company’s flagship heavy firefighting robot. It delivers up to 3,800 L/min of water/foam, supports 8 different mission modules, and can operate for up to 12 hours. Famous for its deployment during the Notre-Dame Cathedral fire in Paris, it is designed for large-scale industrial and urban fires.
- Rhyno Protect: A more compact medium-sized firefighting robot capable of delivering 2,000 L/min. It offers excellent mobility and is suited for tighter spaces while maintaining strong firefighting capabilities.
- Barakuda: A versatile “mule” logistics robot with a 500 kg payload capacity and up to 10 hours of operation. It excels in all-terrain transport of equipment, ammunition, or supplies for firefighters and military units.
- Atrax: A compact EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) and demining robot equipped with a 5-axis manipulator arm capable of lifting up to 20 kg. It is designed for precise remote handling of hazardous devices.
- Shark Spike: An advanced remote-deployable spike strip system for law enforcement, capable of stopping vehicles traveling at up to 130 km/h in just 3 seconds.
Shark Robotics continues to innovate with modular architectures that allow rapid customization for specific missions. Its robots are trusted by elite units including the Paris Fire Brigade (BSPP) and various military and civil defense organizations worldwide.
