Profile
Marut Drones is a pioneering Indian agritech and drone technology company founded in Hyderabad with the mission of transforming industries through innovative, sustainable drone solutions. Established by three IIT Guwahati alumni — Prem Kumar Vislawath (Co-Founder & Director), Sai Kumar Chinthala (Co-Founder & Director), and Suraj Peddi (Co-Founder, Director & CTO) — Marut Drones focuses on designing, manufacturing, and deploying reliable drones that address real-world challenges in agriculture, healthcare, environmental conservation, public health, and infrastructure. The company has built over 600 drones in-house, tested them across more than 500,000 acres, established partnerships with 38 institutions, and expanded its presence to 16 states in India. Marut Drones has secured notable recognition, including the TiE Global TGS100 Award, FICCI Award for Sustainable Agriculture 2022, and Telangana Industry Award for Best Startup. In a major milestone, the company raised $6.2 million in Series A funding from Lok Capital to scale operations and target a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore in the coming years. Its vision is to build a globally trusted drone technology ecosystem that drives sustainability and empowers communities, while its mission emphasizes end-to-end drone ecosystems for measurable social and economic impact. Marut Drones also operates a dedicated Drone Academy for training and offers comprehensive support including government subsidies, low-interest loans (as low as 4-6% via partner banks), insurance, spare parts, and 24/7 pan-India customer service.
Marut Drones’ robot-based products are primarily centered on its flagship AG 365 series, recognized as India’s first multi-utility DGCA-certified agricultural drone. The AG 365 is a versatile, swappable-payload platform with a 29.84 kg maximum takeoff weight, 11-liter spray tank, and industry-leading 22 minutes of flight time per battery — the highest endurance among comparable Indian agri-drones. It features terrain-following and obstacle-avoidance sensors, an agriculture-specific mobile application with health monitoring and analytics, flight speeds up to 15 m/s, a 2 km operational range, and spray flow rates of 0-5 L/min, enabling coverage of up to 6 acres per hour. The platform supports multiple uses including pesticide spraying, fertilizer broadcasting, direct seeding, thermal fogging for mosquito eradication or fumigation, crop intelligence and monitoring, afforestation, surveillance, and logistics. Its robust design, high-grade manufacturing, NABL-accredited quality control, and DGCA Type Certification ensure reliability, airworthiness, and safety across varied field conditions. Complementary models in the series include the AG 365S, AG 365H, and specialized variants such as the SeedCopter for precise seeding, Marut Zap for targeted applications, Hepicopter for healthcare logistics and delivery, CleanCopter and AquaCopter for environmental and water-body management, training drones for skill development, and custom-built drones for defense, surveillance, and industrial clients like NMDC.
Beyond hardware, Marut Drones provides crop-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) developed in collaboration with universities such as Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), enabling efficient, autonomous or manual operation with up to 20% reduction in agrochemicals and 95% water savings. Real-world deployments have demonstrated significant impact: uniform nano-urea application in partnership with IFFCO, 10x faster operations for Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), sustainable income generation for drone-as-a-service entrepreneurs (earning Rs 60,000–70,000 monthly), and expanded revenue for pesticide retailers. The company also offers surveillance drones, logistics platforms including eVTOL concepts, and comprehensive training programs. With strong emphasis on farmer-centric design, regulatory compliance, financial accessibility through subsidies and loans, and measurable outcomes like higher crop yields, lower health risks, and reduced labor dependency, Marut Drones is driving the adoption of aerial robotics in Indian agriculture and beyond while expanding into defense, disaster management, and environmental applications.
