Profile
Forge Robotics is a U.S.-based robotics and automation company building Modular Autonomous Factories — shipping container-sized, self-contained manufacturing modules that can be rapidly deployed and scaled. The company addresses the growing U.S. manufacturing labor shortage (currently ~415,000 unfilled jobs, projected to reach 3.8 million by 2033) by replacing rigid, labor-intensive production lines with flexible, software-configurable robotic modules that operate autonomously with minimal human oversight. Forge’s vision is to enable manufacturers to scale capacity quickly without proportionally increasing headcount, using intelligent, vision-guided automation that adapts in real time.
Each Forge module is a complete, autonomous production unit containing advanced sensors, robotics, and AI-driven control systems. Modules are designed to “snap together” on the factory floor, allowing manufacturers to expand output in days rather than months. The system achieves sub-millimeter precision (<100 µm accuracy on key features) through high-resolution 3D scanning and real-time digital twin comparison, ensuring parts are verified before, during, and after production. This results in 99% first-pass yield and eliminates many traditional quality issues.
Key robot-based and automation capabilities include:
- Autonomous Production Modules: Each module handles a specific manufacturing step (welding, machining, fastening, finishing, etc.). Robots inside use vision-guided path planning, adaptive control, and real-time verification. No teach pendant or custom fixturing is required — the system plans its own paths based on the part’s digital twin.
- Logistics & Transport: Dedicated logistics modules act as automated loading docks. AGVs (autonomous guided vehicles) move parts between modules according to software-defined workflows, eliminating manual material handling and forklifts.
- Scanning & Quality Assurance: Every part receives a high-accuracy 3D scan at entry and exit. Unsuitable parts are automatically diverted, and final quality reports are generated for each batch with full traceability.
- Software-Driven Orchestration: The entire factory is configured and monitored through software. Modules adapt dynamically to production needs, support high-mix manufacturing, and run 24/7 with remote oversight.
Forge’s approach significantly reduces setup time, labor dependency, and capital risk while delivering consistent, high-quality output. The company targets industries facing severe labor constraints and complex, variable production demands. Their modular model offers a practical path toward fully autonomous, scalable manufacturing in the United States.
