Profile
Fauna Robotics is an American robotics company focused on creating capable, safe, and fun humanoid robots designed for everyday human environments. Founded with the mission to make advanced robotics accessible, Fauna designs and assembles its products in the United States (designed in NYC). The company targets developers, enterprises, researchers, and end users who need a versatile, socially engaging platform for real-world applications.
Its flagship product is Sprout, a compact humanoid robot (Creator Edition) that serves as a full-stack development platform. Standing 107 cm tall and weighing 22.7 kg, Sprout features 29 degrees of freedom (DoF), soft exterior materials for safety, and compliant motor control that yields to external forces. Key capabilities include modular autonomy (navigation, mapping, human awareness), stable and compliant locomotion with 5-DoF legs, whole-body teleoperation with robust 1-DoF grippers, and expressive social behaviors such as articulated eyebrows, a full-color 360° facial LED array, directional microphones, and high-fidelity speakers.
Sprout runs on powerful onboard compute (NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin 64GB with 1 TB SSD) and includes sensors like ZED 2i stereo vision and time-of-flight sensors. It supports swappable batteries (3–3.5 hours runtime), an E-Stop, Ethernet, and a full SDK for custom applications. The robot is optimized for safe human interaction and is already shipping.
Fauna positions Sprout for multiple use cases: retail & hospitality (greeting and guiding customers), consumer & home (personal assistant or companion), research & education (locomotion, manipulation, and HRI studies), and entertainment (interactive characters). The company emphasizes developer-friendly workflows, making it easy to move from prototype to deployment without reinventing core robotics fundamentals.
