Profile
Caracol is an Italian company specializing in large-format additive manufacturing (LFAM) through advanced robotic extrusion and deposition technologies. Founded to overcome the size, geometry, and material limitations of conventional 3D printing, Caracol develops and supplies complete turnkey robotic manufacturing systems that enable the production of very large, complex, high-performance industrial parts on demand.
Its core robot-based products are built around industrial robotic arms with six or more axes. The flagship Heron AM platform is a robotic polymer and composite extrusion system capable of printing parts up to several meters in size using a wide range of technical thermoplastics and fiber-reinforced materials. The Vipra AM system uses robotic Direct Energy Deposition (DED) to produce large-scale metal components with high deposition rates and excellent mechanical properties. Both platforms are integrated with Caracol’s proprietary Eidos Manufacturing software, which orchestrates the full workflow including path planning, real-time process control, monitoring, and quality assurance. These solutions are deployed across demanding sectors including aerospace, automotive, marine, rail, architecture, construction, energy, and tooling.
Caracol also operates its own certified production facilities to provide on-demand manufacturing services while customers install platforms in-house. The company has raised significant funding and continues expanding globally through technology acquisitions and strategic partnerships. Its systems focus on reducing material waste, eliminating tooling, shortening lead times, and enabling sustainable, flexible production of end-use parts.
