Profile
AutoStore is a Norwegian technology company and the global leader in cube-based automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS). Founded in 1996, the company revolutionized warehouse automation with its patented high-density modular storage grid system. AutoStore designs, manufactures, and delivers one of the world’s most space-efficient, flexible, and scalable warehouse automation solutions. The system is used by over 1,950 installations in more than 65 countries, serving major retailers, 3PLs, grocery, industrial, and healthcare companies.
The core of AutoStore’s technology is a 3D aluminum grid where plastic bins are densely stacked. A fleet of autonomous robots travels on top of the grid, retrieving and delivering bins to ergonomic workstation ports. This “goods-to-person” model dramatically reduces walking time and labor requirements while maximizing storage density.
Key Robot-Based Products and System:
- AutoStore Robots (R5 Series): The latest generation includes the R5, R5+, and high-performance R5 Pro models. These compact, electric robots move rapidly across the grid, climb vertically to access deep bins, and deliver them to ports with exceptional speed and reliability. The system achieves up to 99.8% uptime and is known for its energy efficiency and low maintenance.
- Workstations (Ports): Multiple port configurations (including high-speed Carousel Ports and ergonomic Presentation Ports) where robots deliver inventory directly to human operators for picking or put-away.
- CubeVerse Platform & AutoStore Intelligence: A unified software platform that uses AI and over 15 TB of operational data to optimize robot routing, predict maintenance needs, and continuously improve system performance. This intelligence layer turns the physical system into a self-optimizing, evolving warehouse.
AutoStore’s solution stands out for its modularity and scalability — customers can start small and expand incrementally without major disruption. It typically delivers 4x higher storage density than traditional racking and significantly higher throughput compared to manual operations. The system requires minimal floor space for infrastructure and can be installed in both new and existing warehouses.
By combining robust robotics, intelligent software, and a proven track record, AutoStore continues to lead the shift toward highly automated, efficient, and future-ready warehouses.
