Profile
Aeva is a Mountain View, California-based company specializing in advanced 4D LiDAR sensing technology for autonomous systems, robotics, industrial automation, and beyond. Founded in 2017 by former Apple engineers Soroush Salehian and Mina Rezk, Aeva has pioneered Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) LiDAR that simultaneously measures both distance and instant velocity. This unique capability gives machines a deeper understanding of their environment compared to traditional time-of-flight LiDAR systems.
The company’s core innovation is its LiDAR-on-Chip technology, called CoreVision™, which integrates all key sensing components onto a compact silicon photonics module. This design enables low-cost, scalable, and interference-free perception solutions. Aeva also develops powerful onboard software (4D Perception™) running on its custom Aeva X1™ processor, which delivers real-time object detection, tracking, velocity measurement, and drivable region analysis.
Aeva’s robot-focused products target factory automation, physical AI, and autonomous navigation. Its flagship Aeva Atlas™ is a long-range automotive-grade 4D LiDAR already in production programs. The upcoming Atlas Ultra (first half of 2026) offers even higher resolution in a slimmer form factor. For robotics and shorter-range applications, the Aeva Omni™ provides wide-view short-range 4D sensing. The Aeva Eve™ 1 sensor, already available, delivers high-precision laser speed measurements specifically designed for factory automation and industrial robots.
These sensors are deployed in diverse robotics and automation use cases, including partnerships with Nikon for industrial machines, SICK for chip-scale lidar, Torc Robotics for autonomous trucks, and various rail and infrastructure projects. Aeva technology is also being explored for applications such as airport operations, critical infrastructure security, and even lunar mapping with NASA-related projects.
Publicly traded on the NYSE under the ticker AEVA, the company has secured major production deals, including with Daimler Truck, and continues to expand its reach across automotive, industrial, and robotics sectors. With a strong emphasis on silicon photonics and integrated perception software, Aeva positions its 4D LiDAR as a foundational technology for the next generation of safe, intelligent autonomous machines and robots.
