Profile
MassRobotics is the world’s largest independent robotics hub, headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded to accelerate the growth of the robotics and Physical AI ecosystem, it serves as a premier innovation center that supports startups, researchers, corporations, and entrepreneurs in developing, prototyping, testing, and commercializing new robotic technologies. MassRobotics plays a vital role in Boston’s thriving robotics cluster by providing workspace, mentorship, access to investors, talent, industry partners, and essential business resources. Its mission focuses on four pillars: Advocate, Connect, Escalate, and Educate.
Rather than manufacturing its own robots, MassRobotics acts as a catalyst for the broader robotics industry. It hosts dozens of resident startups working on diverse robotic solutions, including autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), humanoid robots, manipulation systems, drones, underwater vehicles, medical robots, and AI-powered platforms. The organization has helped its resident companies collectively raise over $2 billion in venture funding. Many successful alumni have gone on to significant commercial success or acquisitions.
Key programs and offerings:
- Startup Residency Program: Provides physical space, mentorship, and resources for early to growth-stage robotics companies.
- Physical AI Fellowship: Supported by partners like AWS and NVIDIA, this program nurtures next-generation talent in embodied AI and advanced robotics.
- STEM Education Initiatives: Inspires the next generation through hands-on robotics programs, challenges, and educational outreach.
- Corporate Innovation & Partnerships: Connects startups with large industry players for pilot projects, testing, and commercialization support.
- Events & Challenges: Hosts regular meetups, demos, pitch events, and innovation challenges to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
MassRobotics supports companies across all stages — from concept and design to scaling and manufacturing — while maintaining strong ties to academia (including MIT, Harvard, and Northeastern) and global robotics communities. It has expanded its impact internationally while remaining deeply rooted in Boston’s innovation ecosystem. The organization continues to drive the commercialization of transformative robotics and AI technologies that address real-world challenges in logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, defense, and consumer applications.
