Profile
Magazino is a Munich-based advanced robotics company that develops intelligent mobile robots for intralogistics automation. Founded in 2014 as a pioneering robotics startup, Magazino became a Jungheinrich company in 2023 and now serves as the core robotics and autonomy unit for the global material handling leader. With more than 160 experts from 35 countries, the team focuses on creating safe, flexible, and perception-driven autonomous systems that automate complex material-flow processes previously considered impossible to robotize.
Magazino’s robot-based products center on two flagship autonomous mobile robots that operate 24/7 alongside human workers. The SOTO autonomous tugger train is designed for production logistics. It independently picks and transports up to 24 small load carriers (KLTs / totes) of varying sizes in a single run, navigating complex factory environments, interacting with passive flow racks at different heights, and delivering materials just-in-time between warehouses and production lines. Equipped with advanced sensors, cameras, and onboard intelligence, SOTO completely replaces manual tugger-train operations while integrating with warehouse management systems through its VDA5050-compliant fleet manager.
The TORU 24/7 commissioning robot specializes in order picking and shoe logistics. This mobile picking robot uses a precise vacuum gripper arm to reliably pick individual cartons, shoe boxes, or standardized containers from shelf racks, even from stacks, across a wide height range (8 cm to 250 cm). TORU can handle items up to 5.8 kg, store up to 16 objects on its backpack rack, and seamlessly integrate into existing warehouse processes without major infrastructure changes. It connects directly to warehouse management systems via WLAN and supports both picking and put-away operations with high precision and safety.
All Magazino robots combine sophisticated hardware, powerful onboard software, and fleet-management tools that emphasize safety, adaptability, and real-world reliability. The systems are deployed across automotive, electronics, consumer goods, and fashion industries, helping companies reduce manual labor, increase throughput, and achieve continuous material flow. As part of Jungheinrich, Magazino also contributes to the broader portfolio of driverless transport systems and AMRs.
