Profile
Formic is an American automation company that delivers full-service robotic systems to mid-market manufacturers, with a strong focus on consumer packaged goods (CPG), food & beverage, and metal fabrication. Founded to make industrial robotics accessible without large upfront capital investment, Formic operates on a zero-CapEx, fixed-monthly-price model that includes robots, integration, AI software, installation, 24/7 support, and continuous upgrades.
The company’s robot-based products cover the most common and labor-intensive tasks on production floors. Its vision-guided palletizing systems handle any product type with dynamic stacking patterns and automatic adaptation to new SKUs. Case packing solutions use intelligent pick-and-place robotics for both rigid and flexible packaging in top-load and side-load configurations. Machine tending robots load and unload CNC mills, lathes, and injection molders, enabling lights-out operation with spindle utilization above 80 percent. Additional offerings include automated pallet wrapping, material movement via Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) that transport pallets safely alongside workers, and general-purpose robots for flexible problem-solving on the floor. Looking ahead, Formic is preparing to deploy humanoid robots in production environments as part of its 2026–2027 roadmap.
All systems run on Formic’s proprietary AI platform: Cortex provides fleet-wide perception, decision-making, and continuous learning through on-site vision models and over-the-air updates, while Core delivers deterministic, safety-certified motion control. This combination allows the robots to improve performance every week and maintain 99.3 percent uptime across more than 645,000 hours of real-world training data.
